Historical Society Meetings are generally held the first Thursday of the month (September through May) at the Rockford Community Cabin on Monroe Street at 7:00pm. Call the Museum for more information at 616-866-2235.

Board Meetings are open to the general membership of the Historical Society. The group generally meets the last Wednesday of the month at the Historical Museum. Times and locations sometimes vary. Call the Museum for more information at 616-866-2235

Projects
Participation in the Historical Society is voluntary, but we could use a helping hand now and then. If you're able to assist with tours, research, clerical duties, fundraisers or special projects, please call the the museum line (616-866-2235) and leave a message.
The museum has several ongoing projects and committees including:
- Images of America: Rockford -- COMPLETE -- Available through the Rockford Area Historical Society for $21.99
- Restoration of Pioneer Cemetery
- The House Project--Members are actively researching and compiling information on historic homes of the Rockford Area.
- The Veterans' Tombstone Project -- Still being formulated.
- The Scarecrow Project -- The Historical Society presents an annual scarecrow making fundraiser during Rockford's Harvest Festival which is held on the lawn at the Rockford Area Historical Museum. Needed scarecrow clothes donations for this project. Call museum or drop donations off during summer hours or during harvest festival weekends.
- Museum School Tours -- Docents help with school year tours usually in the fall and spring.
