The Rockford Area Historical Society is a non profit organization founded in 1969 to preserves the rich heritage of the Rockford community.

Meetings

Historical Society Meetings are generally held the first Thursday of the month (September through May) at the Rockford Community Cabin on Monroe Street at 7:00pm. Call the Museum for more information at 616-866-2235.

January 3, 2008, 1:00pm: History of Bluebirds and Monarch butterflies, Lee Petersen
February 7, 2008, 1:00pm: Historic Home Preservation, Moderator: Tom Logan, Resident of Heritage Hills
March 6, 2008: A night at the races at Berlin Raceway and more, Moderator: Mike Strevel,Director of race operations for Berlin Raceway
April 3, 2008: The use of rocks and minerals by Native Americans of the Great Lakes, Moderator ~Steve Tchozeski
May 1, 2008: Tour the Smith Lapham House, 209 Lewis Street, Rockford, MI, Meet in Parkside’s parking lot.
June 5, 2008, 6:30pm, Annual Picnic and Election of Officers at the Bob Boyer Residence. Bring a dish to pass, a chair, a place setting and your appetite!!

Board Information

Board Meetings are open to the general membership of the Historical Society. The group generally meets the last Thursday of the month at at the Historical Museum. Times and locations sometimes vary. Call the Museum for more information at 616-866-2235

Projects

Participation in the Historical Society is voluntary, but we could use a helping hand now and then. If you're able to assist with tours, research, clerical duties, fundraisers or special projects, please call the the museum line (616-866-2235) and leave a message.
